Yoga Therapy

Yoga therapy is yoga that empowers the individual to self-treat challenging health issues.

The therapist and the client work together to identify sources of suffering and treatment goals. Anna Van Fleet, CYT, is trained to work with structural conditions such as chronic pain in knees, shoulders, and spine. She is also able to help prepare for or recover from joint replacement surgery. Yoga therapy offers relief from symptoms of many physiological conditions like arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, multiple sclerosis, allergies, IBS, and chronic stress. As a sufferer of depression and anxiety herself, Anna especially enjoys working in the field of mental health.

Yoga therapy interventions take place over a series of meetings. A typical experience of yoga therapy might be a 90 minute assessment and intake session, and 3-4 follow-up 60 minute sessions. During this time, the client can expect to learn a number of tools specifically designed to be fast and effective. The client may receive two 15-minute sequences that are refined over the course of treatment. For more serious conditions, an ongoing relationship may be most supportive.

Clients may work with tools like asana (movement), pranayama (breath work), meditation, chanting, mudra (hand positions), nasya (gestures), and the power of intention. Clients leave each session with a written practice. Audio recordings may also be available to support home practice.

Yoga therapy combines all the joys of yoga practice with teachings specific to disease conditions and promises to awaken the inner healer in each client.

  • Subsequent visits $80/60 minutes.
  • Package: Four visits $300 (includes one 90-minute initial visit and three 60-minute subsequent visits).
